Accessibility
Koaura Living should be readable, calm, keyboard-friendly, and comfortable for low-vision use. This page describes the accessibility behavior the website actually ships today — no more, no less.
Three themes, your choice
The site ships three visual themes you can switch from the Display menu in the header. Your selection is saved on your device and reused on your next visit.
High Contrast
Pure black and white with bright accents and solid white borders for the strongest separation between text, surfaces, and edges. Soft shadows and the moving background layer are switched off entirely in this theme.
Light
Near-white reading surfaces with dark text and quieter accents, tuned for bright rooms and long reading. The decorative background runs as a faint whisper here so it never competes with the words.
Calm by default, calmer on request
The site honors your system "reduce motion" setting. When it is on, decorative movement is held still so the interface stays steady while you read and navigate.
- When your device asks for reduced motion, the moving background layer holds still instead of animating, and the open/close motion on the mobile menu is removed.
- The same reduced-motion request stops the animated hero from running its loop; it paints a single still frame instead of moving.
- On High Contrast, the animated hero is dropped completely and the calm static background remains.
- Theme accent colors are read from the active theme rather than hard-coded, so the moving layer always matches the surfaces around it.
Keyboard-friendly navigation
On phones and tablets the primary navigation collapses behind a menu button that is built to be operated entirely from the keyboard, with focus handled for you.
- The mobile menu is a real button that announces whether it is open or closed and which region it controls, with the accessible label "Menu".
- It opens and closes with Enter or Space, and Escape closes it and returns focus to the button.
- Opening the menu moves keyboard focus to the first link inside it, so you are never stranded.
- The menu button is at least 44 by 44 pixels, and links and buttons throughout the site keep a comparable minimum target size.
Contrast and focus
Color choices favor separation, and keyboard focus is always shown so you can see where you are on the page.
- A visible focus ring is drawn around links, buttons, and inputs when you move through the page with the keyboard.
- High Contrast offers a black-and-white surface set with solid borders when you want the strongest possible separation.
- Body copy uses readable sizes with a clear heading hierarchy on every page.
- Instructions are written in words, never carried by decoration alone.
